Plumbing-fixture maker Moen has lowered the output of select new faucets and shower-heads to deliver up to a 30% water-flow reduction from the old industry standard. These new gadgets offer three lever-controlled settings and can be purchased at many home improvement retailers.

Garden stores have been promoting the capture and recycling of rain water in barrels, but when you connect a garden hose to the faucet at the barrel's bottom and open the valve, the water just dribbles out. However, when you attach the new, eco-friendly Rain Perfect pump system, you can extract water with enough pressure to run a sprinkler or wash the car. The Rain Perfect system includes a battery-powered pump that can be charged up with a companion solar panel, allowing you to pump up to 10 gallons off a single charge.

With Mother's Day right around the corner, it's time to start shopping for the perfect present for mom. Giving her gadgets that will make her life better is a great way to show your love and appreciation. If your mom handles all the family grocery shopping, then the SmartShopper grocery list organizer will make an excellent gift.

This handy device lets mom say the name of a food, and it will be automatically added to her grocery list. When she is ready to go to the supermarket, she can easily print her list out using the built-in thermal printer. A smartphone is another great gift idea for moms on the go. The HTC Thunderbolt packs a 4G wireless connection, GPS and the robust Android OS to help your mom get all the information she needs when she's out and about. She'll be able to install all sorts of useful apps from the Android Market as well.
