看过 2006年 "美国偶像" 大赛的观众对 Kellie Pickler 这个名字当然不会陌生，虽然最终获得本年度"美国偶像"大赛第六名的 Kellie 不像最终夺冠的 Taylor Hicks 和亚军 Katharine McPhee 那样星光闪耀，也没有"光头人气王" Chris Daughtry 更吸引眼球，但 Kellie 却是今年的"美国偶像"中最早发行个人专辑的一位。在美国发行首周，Kellie Pickler 的个人处女作《Small Town Girl》共售出 7 万 9 千张，不仅曾名列 Billboard 200 专辑榜第九位，而且还曾夺得了乡村专辑榜的冠军。
虽然并没有闯进第五届美国偶像的三甲，但 Kellie Pickler 凭借出众的嗓音条件和颇具亲和力现场表演功力为自己赢得了相当一部分的歌迷。Kellie 从小便跟祖母一起生活，母亲弃她而去，而父亲又坐牢。因此，Kellie 一直将祖母看作是自己生命中的"天使"，而这一点也成了 Kellie 这张专辑的卖点之一。与上届美国偶像冠军 Carrie Underwood 一样，Kellie Pickler 的这张专辑也选择了走流行乡村这条路线。有了这些动人的"故事"作为铺垫，BNA 唱片公司请到了 Dixie Chicks 的制作人 Blake Chancey 为 Kellie Pickler 量身打造出了这张专辑。
整张专辑的曲风还算比较多样化，除了有首支打榜单曲《Red High Heels》和《Things That Never Cross A Man's Mind》这样轻快的的乡村歌曲之外，还有 MV 中旋律较为出色《I Wonder》以及表达对祖母怀念之情的《My Angel》等慢版情歌。对于一位以实现明星梦为目的的女孩来说，这份答卷的成绩可以说已经相当不错了，但 Kellie Pickler 如果想要像 Carrie Underwood 一样在竞争激烈的流行乐坛站住脚的话，她需要努力改善的东西还有很多。
